New Malden's Sesame Restaurant gets Top Ranking

 

 

New Malden's Multi-Award-Winning Sesame Indian and Thai Restaurant has been ranked in the Top 17 in the UK by The Cobra Good Curry Guide.

The restaurant has been the result of critical acclaim over the past three years being named in the Top 100 in the country by Mood Food Magazine in 2011 and being given a gold rating by Toptable in the same year.

Sesame Indian & Thai Restaurant opened in Kingston Road, New Malden in March 2009 offering the residents of Kingston upon Thames and New Malden something very different in Asian cuisine.

The latest accolade has come from Pat Chapman's Cobra Good Curry Guide placing Sesame in the top 17 Indian restaurants in the country.

The new edition (2013) of my Cobra Good Curry Guide was published late last year. It is now celebrating the 30th year.

The Guide contains free entries on 1,000 of the best of the 9000 or so Indian restaurants from all over the UK. The Guide highlights the best of these by nominating their TOP 100 restaurants and the final distinction is the BEST restaurants in a region of city. There are just 17 of which Sesame is one.

To celebrate this, editors Pat Chapman and wife Dominique visited the restaurant recently to award Sultana Siddiki with a special Cobra Good Curry Guide Award Wall Certificate in front of well-wishers.

Mr Chapman, an acknowledged authority on Asian food, pioneered the Curry Awards ceremony back in 1991 but as there are now several Curry Awards ceremonies held in London and elsewhere, he has decided not to hold a ceremony this year, and instead to make presentations personally at winning restaurants.

On behalf of the restaurant Mrs Siddiki said "We are very proud to receive the award in recognition of the hard work done by our staff over the years since opening and pledge to continue to strive for perfection".

Kingston and New Malden are well served by Asian restaurants but Sesame offers that something more that sets them apart. Salivate over their Rustami Khumb(mushrooms) or cleverly spiced Jalpuri Maas Tikki and follow it with tangy Goan Fish Curry or fiery Lal Maas. Great service, great food and a very well deserved award.
