Bangalore Express - Something for everyone at the City restaurant's new menu!

 

 

 

There's something for everyone on the new menu at Bangalore Express, the City's finest casual dining Indian restaurant.

Owned by the multi-award winning Chef-Patron Yogesh Datta, one of the best exponents of Indian cooking in the UK today, who also owns the award winning fine dining Indian restaurant The Painted Heron in London's Chelsea, the menu at Bangalore Express has been given a tantalising makeover with an extensive range of new dishes.

Located opposite the iconic Leadenhall Market in Gracehurch Street, the restaurant, which is a firm favourite with both City workers, corporate clientele and lovers of earthy yet flavoursome Indian cooking has long offered its clientele options which truly leave them spoilt for choice. However, Bangalore Express is now offering its ever burgeoning number of followers an even greater choice of Indian and even non-Indian dishes.

From Soups and Small Plates and Grilled Sharing Platters, one of the new menu offerings is a separate section of Indo Chinese Small Plates, encompassing such mouth-watering items as Chilli Squid and Lollipop Chicken amongst others. Of the more substantial fare, new items in the Old Favourite Dishes section include such temptations as the mild and rich chicken dish of Pista Chicken made with pistachio; Indian Railway Mutton Curry; and Saag Gosht. The new "Rustic Curries" feature Marathi Chicken Curry on the Bone; Delhi Lamb Curry on the Bone; and Punjabi Boiled Egg Curry.

In the extensive Vegetarian Delights section of the menu, clientele would be hard pressed not to try new items including Paneer Lababdar; Vegetable Kofta Curry; Bagare Baigan in a peanut infused sauce, and the roast aubergine mash Baigan Bharta. Bangalore Express continues its streak of offering its clientele a menu which not only has tremendous variety and invigorating cooking, it also has a sense fun and imagination. The restaurant's longstanding and highly popular Build Your Own "Curry Plate Matrix" lets you select a gamut of ingredients to mix and match for a delicious plated dish of your heart's content!

For lovers of eclectic yet spicy flavours, the Big Plates section offers certain inventiveness with items including Anglo Indian Fish & Chilli Chips; South African Bunny Chow; and Caribbean Curried Goat with Rice, Plantain Chips & Sweet Potatoes. The Dosa selection at Bangalore Express remains a perennial favourite Express Thalis offering hearty meals for one as well as Deluxe Dishes such as Asian Seabass Nilgiri Curry and Duck Breast with Hot & Sour Pumpkin Curry, health conscious clientele can also choose from the restaurant's Skinny Curry Plates. In addition to its A la Carte menu, Bangalore Express also offers an Indian Breakfast Menu with a choice featuring anything from Masala Chai to Masala Milk and traditional items such as Vermicelli Upma; Halwa Poori; Stuffed Parantha and much more besides.

No decent casual dining restaurant would be complete without a fine selection of drinks and at Bangalore Express not only is there a fabulous new range of cocktails, the upstairs bar, with a capacity of up to 60 covers, also offers wonderful canapés. Classics aside, new cocktails in the house selection include the Shantaram (vodka, triple sec, mango, apple and grenadine); and Bangalore Summer (gin, coriander and chilli). New mocktails feature Guava Collins (guava, coconut and lime); and Mumbaita (raspberry, lychee, pineapple and lemonade). The restaurant also prides itself for its wide selection of wines as well as offering a good range of Indian bottles.

Office deliveries are offered by Bangalore Express to clientele in and around the City. The restaurant is also popular as a venue for hire with its private Malgudi Room accommodating up to 22 covers. The restaurant offers special deals on weekends and is available for private hire on a Saturday as well wedding receptions, birthday parties and other event hire with even an in-house DJ and a dancefloor!

As a large, split level establishment - bar and dining tables on the ground floor with the main, rather cosy dining room in the basement - Bangalore Express, which already has a stellar reputation as a City institution, has been made all the better with its new menu.
